Amuria CDP

The Amuria Center was established in 2015 with the initiation of the Bring Hope Child Development Program (BH CDP) by the KFHI Hope Corps (Gidae Volunteer Team) in Amuria District.

Following the completion of service of the first KFHI Hope Corps in August 2025, a subsequent KFHI Hope Corps team was deployed to the Amuria Center and assumed responsibility for the ongoing operations of the Center. The current team continues the implementation of the existing programs, ensuring program stability and continuity.

The Amuria Center operates two core programs within the same Center compound:

  • Bring Hope Child Development Program (BH CDP), and
  • Amuria Youth Center (AYC), which includes a Vocational Training School and a Kindergarten.

Currently, two missionary units are assigned to the Amuria Center. Each unit is responsible for the overall management and implementation of either the BH CDP or the AYC, operating under a unified administrative structure and in coordination with one another to ensure effective program delivery.

Bring Hope Child Development Program (BH CDP)

Unlike other CDP centers in KFHI Uganda, the Amuria BH CDP specifically serves children affected by HIV/AIDS.
The Teso region faces significant challenges in accessing social services due to long-term underdevelopment, limited government budgets, and harsh environmental conditions. As a semi-arid region with low rainfall and extended dry seasons, household agricultural productivity is low compared to western and central Uganda, making food security a persistent challenge.

In response to these realities, the Hope Corps and local staff implement comprehensive child-focused interventions, including:

  • Food distribution / Cassava Root Distribution
  • Regular HIV/AIDS health check-ups, medication support, and HIV/AIDS Prevention Training
  • Home visits and family care
  • Sunday School and Psycho-Social Program
  • CDP Day activities and Bible Camps and Spiritual Program

Through these integrated services, the program aims to protect, nurture, and empower vulnerable children to grow in health, dignity, and hope.

Number of beneficiaries (children): 400
